On July 6, 2016, City Administration, the Edmonton Screen Industries Working Group and the Edmonton Arts Council presented to Executive Committee the report – Preferred Model to Replace the Film Commission.  Executive Committee heard from a number of stakeholders who supported the direction for the establishment of an Edmonton Screen Industries Office.  With this support of the stakeholders, Executive Committee voted to support the establishment of the Edmonton Screen Industries Office and directed Administration to return in the Fall with a three year business plan for the Edmonton Screen Industries Office, Board of Directors and Advisory Council and a report on the legacy funding for the Film Commissioner from the Edmonton Economic Development Corporation and a service package to implement the three year business plan for the Edmonton Screen Industries Office, Board of Directors and Advisory Council (Attachment).

The City Administration, the Edmonton Screen Industries Working Group and the Edmonton Arts Council will over the course of the next few weeks form a Recruitment Committee to develop the selection criteria and establish a recruitment process to appoint a Board of Directors for the Edmonton Screen Industries Office.  Details to follow soon and this process will be available on the Edmonton Screen Industries website.  The appointment of the Advisory Council will be managed by the Board of Directors and will follow a similar process of consultation used for the appointment of the Board of Directors.

City Administration, the Edmonton Screen Industries Working Group and the Edmonton Arts Council will continue to engage, involve and inform stakeholders of recruitment of the Board of Directors and the development of the Business Plan/funding proposal.

In the report to Executive Committee, there was a brief summary of the findings of the Screen Industries Survey (Screen Industries Survey FINAL Report // May 11, 2016).
