The Business Basics Incubator is designed to provide support for individuals or collectives looking to create a film, television, and video game companies in the Edmonton region. The program provides access to the skills required to establish a new business and provide the tools to ensure success through a series of workshops. The program is open to all, but aimed towards new university graduates or studios/companies looking to gain business fundamentals to run a successful studio and project.

Each cohort will run for six to eight weeks and will focus on business affairs skills such as incorporating a business, business planning and budgeting, marketing and audience engagement, legal and business affairs. Activities may include the development of a draft business and marketing plan for their business/project. Additionally, participants will be provided with one-on-one sessions with industry professionals to help guide their progress.

  • This program provides business affairs training to help emerging producers, developers or other screen media creatives establish their new business
  • Each cohort will focus on either the film and television sector or video game sector
  • The program will consist of weekly virtual session covering various topics to support many aspects of development
  • Participants will also be provided with one-on-one mentorship and legal consultation to help guide their progress
